As you continue to bury yourself in planning your marketing budgets and activities for 2010, it’s important to not only take a step back and look at how you can improve your department's efficiency but your own as well. With unparalleled e-mail features and security as well as the industry’s best keyboards, BlackBerry has become the phone of choice for the corporate world. That being said, the BlackBerry operating system has gotten a little dated compared to some of the newer offerings from the competition. Luckily, BlackBerry App World offers lots of ways for you to update the features and capabilities of your BlackBerry and perhaps make your marketing efforts more efficient. Using Windows Mobile or iPhone? Don’t worry we’ve got you covered too. Check out our Windows Mobile and iPhone posts.
1. Expense Manager – Managing receipts and expenses while you’re on the road can be a pain. Especially when you’re busy trying to manage an entire tradeshow booth, settle reporter appointments and trying to make sure the sales kits and press kits are in order. This app will make that whole process a little easier. Now you can enter expenses as they come and then easily export to Excel when you get back to the office or just send it straight from your phone to accounting. Either way, everyone’s happy.
2. Wicked – Wicked is the best of the best if you’re looking to manage your company blog from the road. Tailored specifically for WordPress, Wicked offers a complete suite of blogging tools at your disposal from the convenience of your BlackBerry. It’s got everything from managing multiple blogs, geocoding, complete image handling and social media integration. One of the more unique features is its cloud storage. If you’re BlackBerry crashes, you get a new one or you want to allow someone on another BlackBerry to make posts as well, Wicked has you covered. It saves all of your configuration notes, to-do lists, logins and settings on its own servers to automatically configure a new, or replacement, device.
3. ScanR – There’s nothing worse than using the hotel “business” room’s fax machine or scanner – that’s assuming it actually works. With ScanR you can avoid the nightmarish experience altogether. Simply take a picture of whatever document you need to scan or fax and ScanR will convert it to a PDF or text file for you to use. Adobe recently joined with the guys from ScanR to incorporate Acrobat.com to broaden the app’s feature set. With the new features, you don’t even need to bother with sending them anymore since everything you scan with ScanR will automatically be uploaded to your Acrobat.com account online and you can pick and choose who has access to it. ScanR is available on the iPhone as well.
5. Privus Mobile – This app has made it on each of our productivity lists this year due to the fact that it really has the potential to impact any user’s everyday life. Privus Mobile brings actual Caller ID to your BlackBerry as well the ability to save the information it finds straight to your contact lists. For those busy individuals, it provides better call management. Thanks to a recent update, you can even conduct caller name lookup searches straight from your BlackBerry in the event you get a call on your house or office phone line that isn’t recognized.
