FedEx found a unique way to spread the word about their holiday shipping dominance. They put out a hiring release. As conventional as it may seem, FedEx went outside of the box with the “staff” they were bringing in to six FedEx Office stores around the nation. FedEx Office “hired” NFL stars like Dallas Cowboys tight end Jason Witten and Washington Redskins tight end Chris Cooley to “learn how to pack, ship and deliver a winning holiday season for (FedEx Office) customers” in their home cities. It was all part of FedEx’s “Pack and Ship with the Pros” promotion which gives customers a chance to win a trip to Super Bowl XLIV, tickets to the 2010 Pro Bowl and other prizes, by simply signing up and shipping their gifts and everyday packages at any FedEx Office this holiday season.

Witten and Cooley were joined by Chad Henne in Miami, Matt Schaub in Houston, Patrick Willis in San Francisco and Greg Olsen in Chicago. During the multi-city event, fans had the opportunity for the players to pack and ship their items as well as snag a few autographs, pictures and perhaps some free NFL merchandise. The athletes appeared to have a lot of fun with working at the FedEx Office stores, and fans got to interact with their favorite NFL stars on a different field of play. Local news organizations and several blogs picked up the fun story, and FedEx was able to deliver its holiday messaging right on schedule.
